How to care for your teeth

Brushing Twice Daily
• When to brush: Brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes—once in the morning after breakfast and once in the evening after dinner. Crucially, only water is allowed after your evening brush so the fluoride can protect your teeth while you sleep.
• Technique: Place your soft-bristled toothbrush at a 45-degree angle toward the gum line. Gently move the brush back and forth in short, tooth-wide strokes to clean all outer, inner, and chewing surfaces.
• Children under 6: Assisted brushing is strongly recommended for children below six years of age. Because their fine motor skills are still developing, parents or caregivers must assist and supervise to ensure effective cleaning.
Eating a Nutrient-Rich Diet
• Balanced meals: Consume a nutrient-rich, balanced diet that supports overall oral and bodily health.
• Limit sugary foods: Cut back on sugary treats like sweets, cookies, candies, and sugary beverages. If you do indulge, consume them during main mealtimes rather than as a separate snack, which reduces the number of acid attacks on your teeth.
Regular Dental Check-Ups
• Early detection: Schedule regular dental check-ups (usually every 6 to 12 months) as recommended by your dentist. This allows for problems to be caught early when minimally invasive procedures (like small fillings) can be used.
• Better attitudes & lower costs: Early intervention is significantly cheaper than complex procedures. Furthermore, encountering dentistry only for quick, pain-free preventative care fosters a highly positive dental attitude for both adults and children.
